Online Workshop: Knight Prototype Fund-ed

TOW-Knight-Announce-2013-06-sldierThe Knight Prototype Fund announced their support for our new effort: Transom Online Workshop (TOW), an environment for learning the art and craft of creating multimedia stories.

TOW will explore new methods to train journalists and improve storytelling skills via self-guided (free) and instructor-led (fee) web-based course paths. Our educational materials will feature experienced pros sharing skills developed over decades and new producers revealing their discoveries, triumphs and challenges. TOW’s first release will be in September 2013.

Knight Prototype Fund “helps journalists, developers and tinkerers take media innovations from idea to demonstration.” It is “premised on the belief that with the cost of experimentation dropping these days, it’s almost too expensive not to try out new ideas.”

We are in excellent company: this round’s other Prototype Fund recipients are WBEZ, American Public Media, Raleigh Public Record, and PBS.  To receive more information about all of our Workshops, please write to us at info [at] and we will add you to our Workshop email list.
